MGCCC softball sweeps Baton Rouge to open 2012 season

BATON ROUGE, LA---Kenneth Long isn't sure how his talented but inexperienced pitching staff will fare in 2012, but two games into the campaign, things look bright for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

The Lady Bulldogs opened 2-0 with a 6-1, 5-1 sweep at Baton Rouge Community College that was highlighted by two freshmanpitchers earning victories.

In game one, Megan Lamb got the win while Courtney Moore had three hits including two triples. Julie Butler also had three hits while Kris Albritton had two.

The 5-1 nightcap featured a string outing by freshman pitcher Fallon Dyle. At the plate, Lea Kittrell went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double while Britton Ross also had two hits.

Gulf Coast entertains East Mississippi in their home opener Friday with game times at 2 & 4 p.m.
