Golf second at Elizabeth King Memorial

FAIRHOPE, AL---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College opened the 2012 spring season by firing a first-day 302 at the annual Elizabeth King Memorial hosted by Faulkner State. The Bulldogs are one shot behind tournament leader Meridian (301) with round two set for tomorrow.

Faulkner St. is third (304), followed by Central Alabama and WallaceState (306), Spring Hill (311), and University of Mobile (319).

Gulf Coast’s Jared Smith is tied for third individually after shooting 73 in chilly, windy conditions at Rock Creek Golf Club. Other Gulf Coast scores include Marcus Fox (75), Brad Thornton (76), Mike Maley (78), and Rory Nelson (79).
