MGCCC golf team takes second at Faulkner State

FAIRHOPE, AL---The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College golf team took second at the annual Elizabeth King Memorial hosted by Faulkner State. The Bulldogs went head-to-head and against some of the best NJCAA D-I and four-year college teams in the South in the two-day event held at Rock Creek Golf Course.

Gulf Coast shot 302-292 (594) and finished three shots behind tournament champion Meridian. Faulkner State took third,followed by Central Alabama CC, Wallace State, Spring Hill, and University of Mobile.

Gulf Coast golfer Jared Smith finished individually in a four-way tie for first but lost in a playoff to eventual champion Geoff O’Dell of Faulkner State.

The Bulldog golf team, the four-time Region 23 defending champions, begin defense of their back-to-back MACJC titles Feb. 26-27 at The Oaks in Pass Christian.
