Softball splits at Faulkner State

BAY MINETTE, AL---Instead of catching beads and doubloons, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lady Bulldogs spent Mardi Gras catching fly balls and grounders in a softball doubleheader at Faulkner State.
Gulf Coast (6-1) split the doubleheader, winning game one 7-1 but dropping the nightcap 8-3.
In game one, pitcher Megan Lamb (4-0) got the win while Julie Butler had two hits at the plate including a homerun and 2 RBI. Kris Albritton also had two hits in the 7-3 victory.
The 8-3 nightcap loss was highlighted by another two-hit outing by Kris Albritton and a two-run homer by Julie Butler.
This weekend Gulf Coast travels to Booneville to compete in the Northeast Tournament.
