Gulf Coast (13-10) raced out to a 34-15 first half lead an never looked back as five Lady Bulldogs scored in double figures. Markia Nicks led the way with 18 points while Ricille Davis had 17, Presley Owens netted 16, Seandrea Stevens added 12, and Delainna Lyons had 11.
Gulf Coast also opened the 2011-12 season last November with a win at LSU-E.
After the game sophomores Ricille Davis, Delainna Lyons, Cara Beverin, and Tatyana Haywood were all recognized by teammates and head coach Melaine Stone.
Gulf Coast did not qualify for next week’s MACJC Tournament but the team does have an outside shot at playing in the Region 23 Tournament in two weeks.
