MGCCC softball goes 3-2 at Northeast Tournament

Katy White had four hits and drove in three at the Northeast Tournament this weekend.

BOONEVILLE---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College got two wins Friday and one Saturday at the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tournament. The first day’s action featured an 11-2 win over Lincoln Land C.C. (IL) and a 14-0 shutout of Three Rivers C.C. (CT). On Saturday the Lady Bulldogs lost 8-3 to Jefferson College (MO) and 8-2 to Indian Hills C.C. (IA) before finishing the day with a 4-3 win over Calhoun C.C. (AL).

MGCCC pitcher Megan Lamb earned the shutout win against Three Rivers while Fallon Dyle went 1-1 while scattering nine hits in those two games.

In the five weekend games, Bre Desporte went 5-for-10 with a homerun and 4 RBI, Julie Butler also had five hits while driving in three. Kris Albritton blasted two homers and drove in six while Courtney Moore also had six RBI including a homerun. Shajuan Buckley homered and drove in three while Katy White accumulated four hits over five games.

Gulf Coast (9-3) returns home Tuesday for a doubleheader with Faulkner State with game times at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
