Golf team takes MACJC Event #1

PASS CHRISTIAN, MS---Mississippi Gulf Coast fired rounds of 309-301-610 at the 7000-yard Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian and erased a 4-shot deficit to capture the first MACJC event of 2012 by a single shot over Copiah-Lincoln Community College (611). First round leader East MS (615) finished third, followed by Northwest (641), Northeast and Jones (671), Itawamba (685), East Central (701), Hinds (719) and Holmes 742).
Co-Lin’s Keaton Stamps shot 71-76-147 in tough conditions to take individual honors. Stamps, Bull Mixon (Co-Lin), Miles Respess (EM), Nick Davis (EM) and Brad Thornton (MGCCC) were named to the All-Tournament team. Thornton led all Gulf Coast scorers with a 152 total, followed by Marcus Fox (155), Jared Smith (156), Rory Nelson (157), Michael Maley (158), Delton Pounds (170), Kelsey New (171), Vince Leleux (179) and Kye Taylor (187).
