Softball takes one from Southwest
2012-03-05
SUMMIT---A four-run rally in the top of the seventh gave Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College a 4-1 victory over Southwest in game one of a scheduled doubleheader. Rain postponed game two with the Lady Bulldogs leading 4-1 in the 4th inning.
Gulf Coast (10-3, 1-0) got a tandem effort in the circle from Megan Lamb and Kris Albritton, with Lamb going four innings and Albritton pitching three. The duo held Southwest to one run on five hits and combined for seven strikeouts. Albritton also helped Gulf Coast at the plate with a key hit and RBI in the four-run seventh while Courtney Moore drove in two runs and Shajuan Buckley knocked in another in the MACJC South Division opener.
Tomorrow's doubleheader between Gulf Coast and Jones has been cancelled due to bad weather.
