The Lady Bulldogs (14-3, 6-0) took game one thanks to a three-run third inning highlighted by a two-run homer by Julie Butler, her fourth this season. Butler had two hits along with Kriss Albritton and Britton Ross. Freshman Megan Lamb continued to be strong in the circle as she tossed a complete game win.
The 3-1 nightcap was highlighted by two more hits from Butler and Gulf Coast taking advantage of five errors by Jones. Freshman pitcher Fallon Dyle notched another victory, going the distance and allowing only one run on five hits.
The Mar. 9 doubleheader with No. 1 ranked LSU-Eunice has been cancelled due to expected rain in South Mississippi.
