2012-03-22

The Bulldogs (15-9, 3-3) got a sterling pitching performance from starter Jarred Gates (5-1), who went the distance and allowed only one run on eight hits while striking out 10. Michael Paul moved into the leadoff spot and went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI while Ben Slaton, Joey Harris, and J.C. Cassidy each had two hits.
In the 8-0 nightcap, pitchers Tyler Bray (3-3), Daniel Wineski, and Justin Lee all combined to shut out the Wolves. Gulf Coast scored at least one runs in each inning, with Daniel Miles, J.C. Cassidy, Michael Gilbert, and Ben Slaton all chipping in with two hits apiece. One of Slaton’s hits was a two-run homer, his seventh round-tripper this season.
Gulf Coast travels to East Central for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
