East Central sweeps MGCCC baseball

DECATUR----Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will try to bounce back this week after getting swept by East Central Sunday.

The Bulldogs (15-11, 3-5) were riding a three game winning streak but dropped game one 7-1 in a contest that featured five Gulf Coast errors and only five hits at the plate. Starting pitcher Stuart Holmes gave up three earned runs on five hits in six innings but saw his record drop to 3-4.

The Bulldogs dropped the nightcap 6-1 despite outhitting the Warriors. A Nick Boggs solo was the only run of the game by Gulf Coast while Michael Paul and Joey Harris each had two hits.

Jordan Mata (2-1) only gave up one hit in three innings of work but walked four East Central batters.

Gulf Coast hosts Southwest Wednesday with games at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
