Hinds overpowers MGCCC baseball

RAYMOND---Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College ran into a tough Hinds team and fell on the road 6-0, 17-5 Saturday.
The Bulldogs (17-13, 5-7) stranded six runners in game one and could only scatter six hits against the Eagles. The only Bulldog offensive highlights were two-hit outings by Michael Gilbert and Jody Harris. Stuart Holmes (3-5) gave up five runs on six hits in three innings.
In the nightcap, Gulf Coast scored two in the first but couldn’t keep up as Hinds scored 10 runs in the first two innings. Jordan Mata (2-2) took the loss on the mound while the Gulf Coast defense committed four errors. At the plate, Michael Paul had two hits while J.C. Cassidy had two RBI.
Gulf Coast gets a mini-break before hosting Jones Friday, Apr. 6 with games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
