PERKINSTON---A five run second inning was enough to propel Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to a 5-3 victory in game two and earn a doubleheader split with archrival Pearl River Thursday. The Lady Wildcats took the opener 5-3 in a make-up twinbill that was rained out Mar. 21.

Pearl River had 5-0 lead in the opener before the Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Bre Desporte and Lea Kittrell each had two hits for Gulf Coast while Megan Lamb (10-3) took the loss in the circle.

The nightcap featured Gulf Coast (20-8, 11-5) scoring five runs on four hits in the second inning. Kris Albritton, Megan Lamb, and Britton Ross each had two hits while Fallon Dyle (9-4) got a complete game victory, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out three.

These same two teams will square off again Saturday in another key MACJC South Division doubleheader at Pearl River with games at Noon and 2 p.m.
