Baseball splits at Co-Lin

Ben Slaton hit 2 HR’S against Co-Lin Apr. 14. Slaton is batting .325 with 10 HR and 40 RBI.

WESSON---J.C. Cassidy and Ben Slaton both hit two homeruns and drove in 4 RBI as Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College outslugged Co-Lin 9-7 in game two and earned a doubleheader split with the Wolves. Cassidy went 3-for-4 with a solo homer and a two-run shot while Slaton smacked his ninth and tenth homers of 2012, with both of them two-run shots. Daniel Winseki (3-0) picked up the win in relief while Jordan Mata notched his fourth save of the season.

In game one, Co-Lin hammered Gulf Coast 11-1 behind a 14 hit attack. The Bulldogs could only manage three hits, with two of them coming from Dieter Hamilton. Tyler Bray (5-4) suffered the loss.

Gulf Coast (20-16, 8-10) hosts East Central Tuesday, Apr. 17 with games at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
