Hinds downs MGCCC baseball at Region 23 Tournament

MGCCC head baseball coach Gary Rath saw his Bulldogs go 4-4 in the 2012 post-season including a second place finish at the MACJC Tournament.
7-2 loss ends successful 2012 season for Bulldogs
EUNICE, LA---It was a quick exit from the "Cajun Prairie” for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, as Hinds eliminated the Bulldogs 7-2 at the Region 23 Tournament. Gulf Coast (29-21) managed seven hits against the Eagles but could only plate two runs courtesy of a Joey Harris double in the top of the sixth inning. Daniel Miles and Michael Paul each had two hits to lead the Bulldogs, who as a team left eight runners on base in the contest. Starting pitcher Jarred Gates (9-4) went three innings and gave up four runs on six hits.Despite the loss, the 2012 Bulldogs reached the post-season for the second straight season and swept Northeast in the first round of the MACJC Playoffs. Gulf Coast also finished second at the MACJC Tournament the following week at Itawamba. Three Bulldogs, Daniel Miles, Ben Slaton, and Jarred Gates were all named to both the All-Region 23 First Team and the All-MACJC First Team. Three other Bulldogs, Tyler Bray, Michael Paul, and Daniel Wineski were all named to the MACJC’S All-Second Team.
