MGCCC golf team fifth at NJCAA D-II Tourney

Brad Thornton has helped the Bulldogs stay in the top five at the NJCAA D-II Tournament.

PLYMOUTH, IN---The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College golf team finds itself in fifth place after three rounds of the NJCAA D-II Tournament at Swan Lake Resort. The Bulldogs (294-302-308---904/+40) are four shots out of fourth place and six shots behind third place Tyler (TX). South Mountain (AZ) is alone in first place, 22 strokes ahead of second place Tyler. Gulf Coast sophomore Jared Smith (69-73-76---218/+2) is in fourth place individually, three shots behind tournament leaders Ryan Mulvany (69-72-74---215/-1) and Jimmy Koslowski (73-70-72---215/-1) in the field made up of 19 teams and 128 players. Gulf Coast freshman Brad Thornton (75-78-74---227/+11) is tied for 21st while Bulldog sophomore Jack Sargent (74-75-80---229/+13) is tied for 29th. The tournament’s final round is set for Friday.
