MGCCC tennis teams volley past Hinds

Travis Burdick helped the Bulldogs get another win against Hinds in fall tennis action.
Leading the way for Gulf Coast were Alex Puyol and Sean Robinson. Puyol defeated Yheny Horbiz from Hinds 6-2, 6-4 while Robinson won 6-1, 6-2 over Andrew Hayes.
Other singles winners for Gulf Coast were Lachlan Puyol, who took down Deunte Thomas 6-1, 6-1, Nick Georgian, who blew past Gary Blizzard 6-3, 6-0, Travis Burdick, who dispatched D.J. Smith6-1, 6-1, and Cameron Wolf, who outdueled Esmand Fountain 7-5, 7-6.
In men’s doubles, Gulf Coast took all three points as Puyol/Robinson beat Uprbiz/Hayes 8-4, Lachlan Puyol /Nick Georgian took care of Blizzard/Thoman
8-2 and Burdick/Grant Bell, who ran past Smith/Fountain 8-0.
Leading the way for the Lady Bulldogs wasBrittany Buker, who defeated Latoya Whitney in singles 8-3 and teamed with Kit Chowdhary in number one doubles to whip Maria Costrius/Whitney 8-1. Also winning in singles for the Lady Bulldogs were Diamond Short, Mary King and Aliesha Barlow.
Other doubles winners were Short/King over Johnson/Fox 8-5, and Sarah Soares/Barlow, who got past Newell/Pendleton 9-7.
“I thought that we showed a lot of improvement in constructing points and closing out games,” said Gulf Coast tennis coach Gary Bourgeois. “Our freshman are improving and working hard in practice, and I can see the results of their commitment.”
The Bulldogs return to fall action Oct. 23 against Faulkner State in Bay Minette, AL
