MGCCC tennis opens 2010 season

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College opened it's 2010 tennis season by hosting Hinds at the Biloxi Tennis Center. The Bulldog men's team lost to Hinds 8-1 while the women's team fought hard but lost to Hinds 5-4. Taylor Thrash and Tyler Eggers won the only men's match for Gulf Coast as they defeated Chris Tapia and Jeremy Hound of Hinds 9-7 in a doubles match.
On the women's side, Ruta Grinvalde defeated Oksana Fomenco of Hinds 6-4, 7-6, Victoria Hagel won her singles match over Grace Gaaz of Hinds 6-2,6-3. In doubles play Grinvalde and Morgan Rabby defeated Fomenco and Hanley Melton 8-5 while Brittany Freeman and Katherine Blair defeated Carley Muiller and Joy Berusa 8-2. The deciding women's match came down to the number two doubles as Grace Gaaz and Jennifer Hill of Hinds defeated Victoria Hagel and Megan Terrell 8-6.
Gulf Coast will host East Central Feb. 23 at the Biloxi Tennis Center.
