The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College tennis team and Jones battled twice in the span of 24 hours this week…once at the Biloxi Tennis Center and the other at Jones.

The Bobcat tennis team took both matches but not after a tough fight from the Bulldogs on both occasions. At Biloxi, the Gulf Coast men’s squad lost 7-2 with Kriss Baglais winning his singles match and Baglais and Alex Drake teaming to win in doubles. The women’s squad fell 6-3 as Ruta Grindvalde and Victoria Hagel won their singles matches and the Grinvalde/Morgan Rabby combo won in doubles and improved to 10-1 on the season.

A day later at Jones the Bobcat men won 7-2 with Baglais winning another singles match and Baglais/Drake taking a doubles win. The women’s team fell 5-4 to Jones, which hasn’t lost an MACJC event this season. Ruta Grindvalde and Victoria Hagel both won and both improved to 12-0 in singles play this season. In doubles, Grindvalde teamed with Katy King and Hagel joined Meagan Terrell for victories.

The Gulf Coast tennis squad travels to Itawamba Apr. 8.
