MGCCC tennis team places 3rd at MACJC State Tourney

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College tennis made a strong showing at the MACJC State Tennis Tournament Apr. 15-17 by finishing third behind Jones and Meridian. Several players on the women’s squad brought home state titles while the men’s team finished seventh.

Ruta Grinvalde won the No. 1 women’s singles title while Victoria Hagel took the No. 2 women’s crown. Hagel also teamed with Megan Terrell to win the No. 2 doubles title. Gulf Coast now heads to the Region 23 Tournament Apr. 20-21 in Meridian. The top three men’s and women’s teams in the Region 23 event earn a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament May 1-6 in Tucson, AZ.
