MGCCC netters split at Pearl River

POPLARVILLE-Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College men’s tennis team defeated Pearl River 5-4 while the women’s team lost 5-4 to the Lady Wildcats Tuesday in the last regular season match of the 2009 season.
Landon Williams, Glyn Bowman and Josh Lang, all won singles matches, while Williams/Bowman and Lang/Lyn Jacobson took doubles victories. With the victory, the men completed a season sweep of the archrival Wildcats.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Megan Terrell, Victoria Hagel and Charmayne Purvis, won their singles matches, while the Hagel/Purvis team won another doubles match.
Gulf Coast will compete in the MACJC State Tennis Tournament Apr. 16-18 in Hattiesburg.
