MGCCC tennis teams get ready for stretch run of 2009 season
April 2, 2009

Victoria Hagel (foreground) and Charmayne Williams continue to fare well in doubles competition.
Its five matches to go for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s tennis squads as the final leg of the 2009 season approaches. Head Coach Gary Bourgeois is hoping a late-season run can propel both the men’s and women’s teams into the NJCAA National Tournament in May.
During the last two weeks, several matches were postponed or not completed thanks to bad weather. The Bulldogs did compete against Meridian and Marion Military Institute Mar. 28, with Meridian sweeping both matches against Gulf Coast. The Bulldogs did get a men’s victory against Marion thanks to a singles victory by Landon Williams. The Lady Bulldog doubles team of Victoria Hagel and Charmayne Williams also earned a win as did Hagel in her singles match.
Gulf Coast faces Meridian Friday at Noon at the Biloxi Tennis Center then travels to Hinds on Saturday.
