Bulldogs battle Hinds in key matchup Tuesday

PERKINSTON — Two teams battling to make the postseason will face off Tuesday at Ken "Curly" Farris Field.

Hinds, which is 10^th in the MACCC standings, will be playing Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is ninth. The doubleheader starts at 3 p.m., and the games will be streamed at https://mgcccbulldogs.com/watch. 

The top nine teams make the NJCAA Region 23 postseason. The MACCC champion will host the six-team regional tournament, joined by LSU Eunice. The next eight MACCC teams will play best-of-three play-in series at the higher-seeded team's field starting May 4.

• MGCCC: 16-22/9-11 MACCC, 9^th place in conference
• Hinds: 20-19/8-10 MACCC, 10^th place in conference

Last Time Out

• MGCCC lost twice at No. 4 Pearl River last Tuesday, 5-1 and 3-1.
• Hinds swept Mississippi Delta 11-5 and 11-3 on Sunday.

Previous Meeting

The teams met in an non-conference game on Feb. 21, with Hinds winning 12-11 on its home field in Raymond.

Notes

• Gulf Coast is 12^th in the NJCAA with 46 home runs. That leads the MACCC. The Bulldogs are fourth in the conference in hitting (.312) and slugging (.493).
• Sean Smith (So., Pascagoula/Pascagoula) ranks seven in the NJCAA with 13 home runs. His .828 slugging percentage is 15^th. He's second in the MACCC in home runs and slugging and third in hitting (.438).
