Blue and Gold scrimmage caps off MGCCC spring football
PERKINSTON---The Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College coaching staff saw a little bit of everything during football drills this spring. At Thursday's scrimmage, the last of three this spring, they saw plenty of offense as the patented Bulldog running game was in mid-season form with four different running backs scoring touchdowns.
"I saw some running backs make big plays today," said Gulf Coast head coach Steve Campbell, who's entering his tenth season with the Bulldogs. "Now our job is to get into the weight room and get bigger, stronger, and faster before next fall."
Campbell and his staff also got a good look at incoming quarterback Colton Kane, a 6-4, 215 pound transfer from East Central. He'll be handing off to running backs like Detrick Goff, Antwon Wells, and Reggie Matthews, and throwing to NJCAA All-American wide receiver Dhaquille Williams.
The Gulf Coast defense brings back the majority of its linebacker corps and secondary, which helped lead the 2012 team to a 9-2 record, another MACJC South Division title, and a sixth straight trip to the MACJC Title Game.
