Ballard-Cody game highlights MGCCC alums in NFL Playoffs

Each season the list of former Mississippi Gulf Coast Bulldogs in the NFL grows, and every week former Bulldogs are either playing with or against each other on Sundays.

Such was the case on Jan. 6 as Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard faced off with Baltimore ravens nose guard Terrence Cody in the AFC Wildcard Round of the NFL Playoffs.

Cody, who played at Gulf Coast in 2006-07 and helped led the Bulldogs to an NJCAA National Championship, got the last laugh as his Ravens beat the Colts 24-9 to advance to the AFC'S Divisional Round this Sunday at Denver.

Meanwhile Ballard, a 2008-09 MGCCC alum, rushed for 91 yards for his team in the loss. As a rookie in 2012, Ballard rushed for 814 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a TD pass.

"It was cool playing across from TC," Ballard said. "He's a very good player."

On the west coast former Bulldog Tramaine Brock (2007-08) and the San Francisco Forty-Niners await Green Bay in this weekend's NFC Divisional Playoffs. In western New York, former Bulldog and current Buffalo Bills linebacker Chris White (2007-08) and his teammates are welcoming in new head coach Doug Marrone.
