#10 Bulldogs, Wildcats battle in 91st meeting

One of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in JUCO football resumes when Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Pearl River tangle Thursday in Poplarville. Both teams are coming off victories, and both teams are fighting for position in the MACJC South Division.

In other words, it's business as usual in this annual backyard battle.

Pearl River enters the contest fresh off a 38-14 drubbing of Southwest which featured the third straight 100-yard rushing effort from running back Darrell Robinson (441 yards, 3 TD'S in 2013). The Wildcats also use former Gulf Coast Bulldog Detrick Goff (57 carries, 179 yards, 4 TD'S) in their running game.  Pearl River quarterback Shaun White (58/90, 723 yards, 3 TD'S, 4 INT) leads the Wildcats offense that's ranked #8 in the MACJC.

On the other side of the ball, Pearl River boasts a stingy run defense that's only given up four rushing touchdowns this season.

Gulf Coast enters Poplarville with the State's leading rushing attack featuring sophomore running back Antwon Wells, (638 yards, 7 TD'S), the MACJC'S leading ball carrier. Justin Brister (223 yards, 3 TD'S) and Rod Williams (310 yards, 2 TD'S) should also see lots of action against the Wildcats.

Despite catching only two passes in last week's 28-14 win at Northeast last week, NJCAA All-American wideout Dhaquille Williams (28 catches, 393 yards, 6 TD'S) is still among the MACJC'S receivers.

Defensively the Bulldogs are almost back to full strength after safety Josh Keys (turf toe) and Derrick Moncrief (ankle) played most of last week's game. As a unit, Gulf Coast is ranked #7 in the MACJC in total defense including eight sacks and 10 turnovers.
