Gulf Coast places 4 on All-Star basketball teams

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will have four representatives in the MACJC All-Star basketball games next month.

 

The games will be streamed at holmesccmedia.com.

 

Kalynn Smith will play for the South in the women's game, which will start at 4:30 p.m. on April 10 at East Central Community College. Smith is a 5-foot-9 post player from Oak Grove High School.

 

In the men's game, which will follow the women at Brackeen-Wood PE Building, Jamarri Johnson, Michael Lewis and Justin Coleman will be playing.

 

Johnson, a 5-foot-11, 150-pound sophomore guard from Noxubee County High School, averaged 13.8 points and 2.2 assists. Lewis, a 6-foot-10, 215-pound center from Slidell Northshore High School, averaged 9.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.

 

Coleman, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound sophomore from Nashville, averaged 13.1 points on 60.7 percent shooting from the field, with 9.5 rebounds.

 

Other members of the South women's team are: Essence Pulliam, Pearl River; Miaya Crowder, Meridian; Londyn Thomas, Meridian; Claresa Banks, Co-Lin; Tyra Gibson, Co-Lin; Talisa Sherman, Southwest; Shu-Nika, Hinds; Starla Daggans, Jones; Kadie Parker, Jones; Tynika Bender, East Central and Jaleshia Jones, East Central.

 

Alternates are Alyson Johnson of Jones County and Shakerya Morrison and Tashi Thompson of East Central. 

 

Gwyn Young of Copiah-Lincoln will serve as head coach.

 

The rest of the South men's team includes: Brandon Daniels, Meridian; Terry Morris, Co-Lin; Jaylen Moore, Southwest; Trent Jeffries, Southwest; LaDarrius Drain, Hinds; Bryce Jones, Jones; Chris White, Jones; Otis Harvey, Jones and Quinton Campbell, East Central.

 

Alternates are Jordan Lumpkins of Co-Lin, Kristian Clark of East Central and Rodrique Palmer of Jones.

 

Kenny Bizot of Copiah-Lincoln will serve as head coach.

 

Members of the North Division women's team are Erica Collins, Coahoma; Bethany Lytle, Northwest; Tekevanna Young, Northwest; Jayla Chills, Itawamba; K.K. Kneeland, Itawamba; Jeronia Allen, Itawamba; Aushiana Ivy, Northeast; Daisha Williams, Northeast; Carmeshia Nalls, Holmes; Lashonda Wilson, Holmes; Alecha Gibbs, East Mississippi and Niya Head, Delta.

 

Alternates are Ashley Johnson of East Mississippi, Jasmine Allen of Northeast and Lanikki McMillian of ICC.

 

Danetra Forest of Coahoma will serve as head coach.

 

North Division men's squad includes Cameron Monix, Coahoma; Sharwyn McGee, Northwest; De'Sean Dockery, Northwest; Austin Timms, Itawamba; Lakee Westbrook, Itawamba; Dimario Jackson, Northeast; Dexter Stafford, Northeast; Marcus Washington, Holmes; Jarvis Williams, Holmes; Antonio Finley, East Mississippi, Shelvick Henry, East Mississippi and Darius Duke, Delta.

 

Alternates are Zamarlus Griffin of Delta, Kevis Fleming of Itawamba and Chris Rhoney of East Mississippi.

 

Ira Peterson of Coahoma will serve as head coach.
