Lane Below (pronounced BLUE) is in his second season as an assistant coach at Gulf Coast in 2021-22. His first season at Perkinston ended in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament second round, where the Bulldogs were in a one-possession game against eventual region champion Holmes in the final minute.

He spent the two previous seasons as a graduate assistant at Ole Miss, his alma mater. He worked for head coach Kermit Davis and helped the Rebels reach the 2019 NCAA Tournament after reaching as high as No. 18 in the AP poll. The staff sent one player to the NBA and four were named All-SEC during those two seasons.

Below played two seasons for head coach Andy Kennedy at Ole Miss, graduating in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in general studies and making the SEC Academic Honor Roll. While serving as a graduate assistant, he earned a master’s in health promotion. He started his collegiate playing career at Three Rivers Community College, where he played for Hall of Fame coach Gene Bess. He earned his associate degree in 2016.

Lane is married to Hannah Below, also a former Division I basketball player.
