Bulldogs move up to No. 6

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast swept another opponent over the weekend and jumped two spots in the NJCAA Division II Softball Rankings.

The Bulldogs are up to No. 6 after going on the road and beating Marion Military twice on Sunday. They have won their first six games of the season.

They are two spots behind Jones, another MACJC team, and ahead of No. 11 Itawamba, No. 14 East Central and No. 19 Northeast Mississippi.

Gulf Coast is scheduled to play a total of five games Friday and Saturday in the Rush Invitational in Meridian. The Bulldogs will play five Division I teams, including No. 12 Central Alabama and No. 18 San Jacinto-South.

Their next home games will be March 3 when LSU Eunice, the second-ranked team in the Division II poll, visits Perkinston.
