After playing a tight first half, Mississippi Gulf Coast fell in its season-opener to No. 7 Chipola 70-29 on Friday in Baton Rouge.
The Lady Bulldogs, playing in the Lady Bears Classic, trailed 31-21 at half.
Deona Morgan (5-7, Fr, St. Martin/St. Martin) led Gulf Coast with five points, and four players had four. Keiara Williams (6-1, Fr, Warren Easton/Warren Easton) had eight rebounds.
Gulf Coast returns to action Saturday, playing host Baton Rouge at 1 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs open their home schedule Nov. 17 against Bishop State.
