Mississippi Gulf Coast's playoff chances took a hit Friday, but not before a furious rally fell just short.
The Lady Bulldogs wound up tied 1-1 with Meridian after two overtimes when Maryssa Everett scored the first goal of her college career with seven seconds left in regulation.
Gulf Coast (6-9-1, 4-4-1 MACJC South) had a winning goal in overtime denied by an offside call.
The contest was a battle for third place in the South Division. The teams are tied, but Meridian holds the tiebreaker thanks to an earlier win over Gulf Coast.
Meridian (7-6-2, 4-4-1) can clinch the final spot in the playoffs Tuesday with a victory over winless Copiah-Lincoln.
