MGCCC players sign early with four year colleges/universities

  • MGCCC defensive lineman Wayne Dorsey (7) is headed to Ole Miss.
  • Ten Mississippi Gulf Coast Community college football players have taken advantage of the early signing period and are moving on to play at the next level. These players are graduating from Gulf Coast at the end of the fall semester and have enrolled at their chosen four year colleges/universities for the upcoming spring semester. In 2009 Gulf Coast went 9-3, played in its third straight MACJC State title game, won a third straight MACJC South Division title, and finished #8 in the final NJCAA football poll.

  • MGCCC'S Vick Ballard earns 1st Team NJCAA honors

    Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College running back Vick Ballard is a 2009 NJCAA First-Team All-American while four other Bulldogs earned All-American recognition.

    Ballard, a sophomore from Pascagoula, ran for 1,728 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2009. The Mississippi State commitment was also named to the 2009 MACJC South All-State First Team Offense and named the 2009 MACJC Most Valuable back.

  • Navarro runs by MGCCC 37-26 at HOT Bowl

    Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College head football coach Steve Campbell told everyone that the ninth annual C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl would come down to which team could win the turnover battle.

    The bad news is that team was No. 4 Navarro. The Bulldogs from Corsicana, Tx. ran for 336 yards and capitalized on three Gulf Coast turnovers to win 37-26 and finish their season at 11-1.

  • MGCCC faces Navarro in Champs H.O.T Bowl

    For the second time in three years, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is headed to Copperas Cove, Texas to compete in the C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl Saturday, Dec.5. The Bulldogs, 9-2 and ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA football poll, will face off against the 10-1 Navarro Bulldogs. Navarro spent two weeks as the NJCAA’S No. 1 team before losing to Blinn College 45-34 in the conference finals Nov. 15.

    “Navarro is an outstanding team,” said Gulf Coast head coach Steve Campbell. “There’s a reason why they were number one for several weeks this season. Just like us, Navarro is a couple of plays away from playing for a national title, so it should be a tremendous bowl game.”
