No. 20 MGCCC entertains Holmes

PERKINSTON — No. 20 Mississippi Gulf Coast tries to get back in the win column Saturday when Holmes visits newly renovated Ken "Curly" Farris Field.

The 2 p.m. doubleheader features a pair of Bulldog squads. MGCCC (15-9, 4-4 MACJC) is coming off a sweep at the hands of Pearl River, trying to get back on the plus side of .500.

Holmes (11-15, 2-6) has lost six straight after sweeping Southwest to open conference play. Its roster has been hit hard by injuries.

Gulf Coast catcher/designated hitter Logan McGrew (Fr., Sumrall/Sumrall) has earned himself more playing time by raising his batting 60 points during his six-game hitting streak. He's batting .372 and has nine RBI in that time.

First baseman Tyler Evans (So., D'Iberville/D'Iberville) has a 12-game hitting streak. He's batting .394 during that span with nine RBI and an on-base percentage of .450.
