No. 8 Bulldogs look to bounce back

PERKINSTON — No. 8 Mississippi Gulf Coast slipped four spots in the NCAA rankings after its first loss of the season, and the Bulldogs won't get any breaks in yet another tough MACCC South matchup.
They travel to Decatur to play a much-improved East Central squad on Thursday.
"East Central has a really, really good team," Gulf Coast coach Jack Wright said. Defensively, they're not giving up a lot of yards, and they're really moving the football. They play with tempo and have a really, really efficient quarterback."

East Central (3-3, 1-2 MACCC South) handed Northeast Mississippi its first loss of the season with a 28-21 overtime win at Decatur. The Warriors have the fourth-best passing attack in the conference and rank fourth in total offense.
Chris Tucker has completed nearly 63 percent of his throws, averaging 177.0 yards per game with eight touchdowns. Devontae Causey is fourth in the MACCC picking up 70.4 yards per game on the ground.
The Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) continue to lead the NJCAA in scoring (45.2 ppg). The offense ranks first in the MACCC in rushing (256.8 ypg), and The Regulators are first in total defense (261.3 ypg) and rushing defense (78.3 ypg).
Wright and his staff didn't deviate from their routine after the 28-23 loss to Co-Lin.
"Everything about us is coming on Sunday with a fresh approach," he said. "We do that after a win. We do that after a loss. I'm very pleased with our kids. They're resilient. They know we've got a good football team. We've just got to put a good performance on the field Thursday."
