Gulf Coast falls to No. 9 Jones

PERKINSTON — A stellar goalkeeping effort by Mississippi Gulf Coast's Skyler Steede wasn't quite enough for the Bulldogs, who lost 1-0 to No. 9 Jones at Bary Thrash Field.

Steede made five saves and kept the Bobcats out of the net until the 71st minute, when Poppy Binding got the game's only score.

Gulf Coast was outshot 23-3.

The Bulldogs (5-4-1, 4-2-1 MACCC South) are now tied with Pearl River for second in the division. Jones (8-1, 6-1) leads the South.

Gulf Coast plays again Friday when Copiah-Lincoln visits Perkinston. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
