No. 20 JC edges No. 19 MGCCC
PERKINSTON — No. 19 Mississippi Gulf Coast came out on the short end of an incredibly tight 5-4 loss to No. 20 Jones at the MGCCC Tennis Complex.
The match included three singles matches that went to third sets, all of which were decided 11-9. Gulf Coast came up on the short end of two of those matches, providing the difference.
Seth Macute (Fr., St Joseph's Nudgee College/Brisbane, Australia) and Wesley Fontaine (So., Biloxi/Biloxi) teamed up to win No. 1 doubles, and Raymond Lam (Fr., Biloxi/Biloxi) and Clint Verrett (So., Gulfport/Gulfport) got the point at No. 3.
The Bulldogs (5-1) only got two points in singles, one from Macute at No. 2 and one from Fontaine at No. 4.
The Bulldogs play Copiah-Lincoln on Monday to launch a busy week with four MACJC matches at Perk. First serves will be at 1 p.m.
