No. 14 MGCCC tries to grab points at NJCAAs
PERKINSTON — The NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship essentially begins again Wednesday, and No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast has five chances to pick up points after one more victory Tuesday.
"Tomorrow is moving day," Bulldogs coach Gary Bourgeois said. "We have a possibility to go a long way in all five back draws. If we take care of business, we'll be OK and pick up some points on everybody."
Gulf Coast's three winners from the first round of the main draw were eliminated in the round of 16, but the six points they picked up had the team tied for 10th place with Hinds and East Central for the lead among MACJC teams after the first day.
Austin Vos (So., Perth Australia/Applecross) and Cole Wagoner (Fr., Ocean Springs/Ocean Springs) defeated Moraine's Nick Karczynski and Alex Kokoszka in the No. 1 doubles consolation bracket to add another half point.
That leaves five spots alive for the points in the consolation draw to pick up more points. The tournament runs through Friday.
