3 Bulldogs named All-America Scholars

PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's national championship golf team tied for the most NJCAA Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.

Three Bulldogs from the NJCAA Division II Men's Golf title squad earned that recognition. The Golf Coaches Association of America teams up with Cobalt Golf, a maker of laser rangefinders, to present the awards.

Stanley Campbell, John Mark Mills and Ludvig Behring won the recognition. Sophomore golfers must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.

Campbell, from London, England, won the individual national championship and graduated with a 3.82 GPA in real estate. He won three tournaments and had eight top-three finishes, going 13-for-13 in top-10 finishes. Campbell had the third-lowest scoring average for a season in school history (71.36). 

John Mark Mills, from Pontotoc, graduated with a 3.94 GPA in entrepreneurship. He finished 11th at the national tournament and won two events. He was a First Team PING All-American.

Behring, from Sollentuna, Sweden, completed his studies in economics with a 3.95 GPA. He tied for sixth at the national championship and won the MACCC Championship. A First Team NJCAA All-American, he finished 14th in the Clippd National Collegiate Golf Rankings.

All three Bulldogs are going to play at NCAA Division I schools at the Next Level. Campbell is headed to State, John Mark Mills to Austin Peay and Behring to Lindenwood.
