MGCCC notches 5 more wins at nationals
No. 14 Mississippi Gulf Coast picked up five more wins Wednesday at the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Tournament in Plano, Texas.
In the consolation bracket, Travis Bell (Fr, Jackson/Calloway), Reid Cudd (Fr, Wiggins/Stone) and Brett Bowen (So, Oxford/Oxford) won their quarterfinal singles matches.
Bell and John Murphy (Fr, Mobile, Ala./McGill-Toolen) won their No. 1 doubles quarterfinals in the back draw, as did Noah Tippen (So, Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville) and Noah Rowell (Fr, Wiggins/Stone) in No. 2 doubles.
Rowell got knocked out of the No. 4 singles quarterfinals in the main draw by top-seeded Reid Feehan of Tyler.
Gulf Coast is tied for 15th in the team standings with 10 points. The consolation semifinals take place Thursday, with the finals scheduled for Friday.
