PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast dug itself a big hole early in the women's soccer season opener Thursday night at Bary Thrash Field, falling 5-1 to East Central.
The Warriors scored three times in just over 14 minutes to start the game, then pushed their lead to five in the closing minutes. Amanda Sylvia (So., Long Beach/Long Beach) swooped in following the restart after the final ECCC goal to score from a sharp angle and get Gulf Coast on the scoreboard.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday when LSU Eunice visits Perkinston. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. back at Thrash Field.
