Mississippi Gulf Coast exploded for four second-half goals Tuesday and beat Southwest 4-0 to keep its playoff hopes alive.
Bettie Shoemaker (Fr., St. Martin/Vancleave) scored in the 49th minute, and Paris Payne (So., Southampton Foundation/Southampton, England) followed eight minutes later.
Hannah Sherrod (So., DeSoto Central/Southaven) made it 3-0 in the 67th minute, and Chloe Fell (So., Woodhey/Bury, England) put the icing on the cake three minutes after that.
Gulf Coast is now 2-11-1 overall, 2-4-1 in the MACJC South. The Bulldogs are in third place in the division and will clinch a postseason berth with a win or tie against Meridian on Friday. Kickoff in Perkinston is set for 5 p.m.
