Bulldog baseball starts Feb. 9
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast opens it 2018 baseball season Feb. 9 when State Fair Community College visits Ken "Curly" Farris Field.
The Bulldogs will play 11 dates at the Perkinston Campus plus a pair of games March 3 at MGM Park in Biloxi.
"We know how tough our conference is, so I want to make it as tough as I can to prepare us for that part of our season," Gulf Coast coach Rodney Batts said. "I think our schedule will challenge us the early part of the season. It will get us prepared for some good folks."
Gulf Coast heads to Biloxi on March 3 to play Illinois Central and Baton Rouge. Those teams will play each other in the middle of a three-game sandwich.
The MACJC schedule starts March 17 with a trip to Itawamba. The first of six home conference doubleheaders comes March 21 when Copiah-Lincoln visits Perkinston.
This year's postseason starts May 11 with four best-of-three series featuring the second- through ninth-place teams from the MACJC regular-season. The winners from those series advance to the six-team Region 23 Tournament, where they will play LSU-Eunice and the regular-season MACJC champion.
