Dean wins second MACJC Defensive Player of the Week award

PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast freshman linebacker Reggio Dean has been named MACJC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in the young MACJC season.

Dean, a graduate of Northeast Jones, had 12 tackles and forced a fumble in Mississippi Gulf Coast's 30-14 win over East Central at A.L. May Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

"It matters to him. He really gets into what he's doing," Gulf Coast defensive coordinator Steve Davis said. "He's very dependable. Reggio Dean makes one of his 12 tackles against East Central. (Justin Hicks/MGCCC) practices hard, he plays hard, he wants to be good and he's willing to do whatever it takes to be good. The game and his team means a lot to him."

Dean won the award after the Bulldogs' opening win at Northeast. He had another stellar game, with 11 tackles, a forced fumble, a 33-yard interception return and a 73-yard fumble return.

The Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0 MACJC South) play at Hinds this Thursday. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. The game can be heard at SuperTalk 103.1 FM and it will be streamed at BulldogLIVE.
