Bulldogs jump to No. 8 in NJCAA poll
PERKINSTON – Mississippi Gulf Coast moved up three spots in the latest NJCAA football poll after a convincing 38-7 Homecoming victory over Itawamba.
The South Division-champion Bulldogs (7-2) are ranked eighth, stretching their streak of consecutive appearances to 137 weeks.
Gulf Coast has been ranked in the top 10 during 112 of those weeks in the poll.
Gulf Coast plays Itawamba again Saturday in the first round of the MACJC playoffs. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing to the state championship against the winner of the East Central-Northwest game.
Northwest is ranked second, with East Central at No. 17. Two other MACJC schools appear in the poll: Copiah-Lincoln at No. 7 and East Mississippi at No. 10.
