UPDATE: 15 Bulldogs sign with four-year schools

PERKINSTON – The Mississippi Gulf Coast fax machines were humming early Wednesday morning, as 13 players signed national letters of intent with four-year schools on the first day of the midyear junior college signing period.

Two other players signed later in the period, raising the total to 15.

"These guys were a group that made the playoffs two consecutive seasons, won a South State title and finished in the top 10 in the country both years," Gulf Coast coach Chad Huff said. "I'm very proud of these guys and their accomplishments.

"This is what they come to Gulf Coast for, to get an education and have a chance to move on to a four-year school. I'm proud to see them reap the benefits of doing what we've asked them to do on a daily basis. This is the plan we have in place at Gulf Coast, to not only excel in the classroom but also on the field."

The signing period continues until Jan. 15.
