Five Bulldogs scored in double figures Monday as Mississippi Gulf Coast defeated Hinds 86-77 at Utica in the first MACJC South game of the season.
Tavonn Tyson (Fr, Biloxi/Biloxi) and Abdul Dial (So, West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) had 15 points. Dedoch Chan (Fr, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds, with DaJuan Moorer (Fr, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic) netting 12 and grabbing a team-high 16 boards.
Keevon Oney (Fr, Gulfport/Gulfport) joined Dial in double digits off the bench with 12 points.
Gulf Coast (7-1) shot 51.7 percent from the floor, including 41.7 percent from the 3-point line. The Bulldogs held Hinds (2-4) to 39.4 percent from the floor.
