MGCCC falls at Co-Lin
Mississippi Gulf Coast fell to hot-shooting Copiah-Lincoln 97-88 at Wesson on Thursday.
Despite getting six players in double-digits, the Bulldogs got outshot by the Wolves, who made nine 3-pointers while shooting 50 percent from behind the arc in the second half.
Dedoch Chan (Fr, Rochester, Minn./John Marshall) had 23 points, his fourth straight 20-plus night. Keevon Oney (Fr, Gulfport/Gulfport) had 18 points, and Abdul Dial (So, West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) added 15.
Gulf Coast (12-6, 5-4 MACJC South) had its three-game win streak snapped. It missed a chance to draw even with Co-Lin (16-2, 7-2) in the standings. The Bulldogs are two games back after being swept by the Wolves.
Gulf Coast led by as many as nine in the first half, but Co-Lin charged to a 41-36 halftime lead. The Wolves pushed their advantage to 14 with 6:40 to play. Gulf Coast cut the deficit to six in the final minutes but could not get over the hump.
DaJuan Moorer (Fr, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic) scored 12 for Gulf Coast, and Qua'darius Green (So, McComb/McComb) and LaRaymond Spivery added 10 each.
The Bulldogs return to action Thursday when East Central visits the Weathers/Wentzell Center. Tipoff in Perkinston is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game can be watched at https://livestream.com/BulldogLIVE/events/8045083.
