Mississippi Gulf Coast dropped its second game of the season Monday, opening the 2018 portion of its schedule with a 79-77 double-overtime loss at Baton Rouge.
Both the Bulldogs' losses are to the Bears (5-8).
"We made a lot, a lot of mistakes," Gulf Coast coach Wendell Weathers said. "We had three weeks off, which might account for it, but we made a lot of turnovers."
Gulf Coast (8-2) was led by LaRaymond Spivery (Fr, Lucedale/George County) with 17 points. Qua'darius Green (So, McComb/McComb) and DaJuan Moorer (Fr, Pensacola, Fla./Pensacola Catholic) had 16 each, and Abdul Dial (So, West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) added 13.
"We had the game won a couple times in regulation and another time in overtime," Weathers said. "Just dumb stuff."
The Bulldogs resume MACJC South play Thursday when Copiah-Lincoln visits Perkinston. Tipoff at the Weathers/Wentzell Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
