Gore wins NJCAA award
PERKINSTON — Mississippi Gulf Coast's Isaiah Gore grabbed another award Wednesday when he was named NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week after posting two critical shutouts.
The Bulldogs needed two wins to clinch a spot in the MACJC playoffs, and the freshman from Laurel was up to the task.
"It's good for him to get recognition for the season he's had," Gulf Coast coach Chris Handy said. "He's been important for us back there. It was a big week for us, and he stepped up for us in arguable the most important week of the season so far."
In a 1-0 win over Southwest, he stopped three shots. Gore stopped two in a 2-0 win against Meridian.
Gore has won MACJC Keeper of the Week three times this season. This is the first national award for Gulf Coast soccer this season.
