Travis, Agner, Coates make All-MACCC

PERKINSTON — Three Mississippi Gulf Coast players earned All-MACCC First Team honors, and three more received honorable mention.

Shortstop Rakeya Travis (So., Poplarville/Poplarville), first baseman K.K. Agner (Fr., Horn Lake/Magnolia Heights) and pitcher Emaleigh Coates (Fr., Lucedale/George County) got top honors.

Caroline Moore (So., Maryville, Tenn./Maryville), Alexis Laughlin (So., Hurley/East Central) and Kristian Jones (Fr., Southaven/DeSoto Central) were named to the honorable mention list.

Travis led the Bulldogs, who finished fourth at the NJCAA Division II Softball Championship, with a .437 batting average, 17 home runs and 70 RBI. Her homer total was third-best in the MACCC, and she finished second in RBI.

Agner finished second on the team with 14 home runs, tied for fourth-best in the league. She batted .390 with 52 RBI.

Coates went 8-3 in the circle with a 3.53 ERA. She struck out 71 batters in 85.1 innings, walking just 37.
